All My Thanks

Today is Thanksgiving in my other country. And I don’t really miss it… I mean I don’t really miss celebrating… But I do miss the spirit of this holiday and being surrounded by people who feel and express their gratitude for what they have…

So I started making this list in my head, in no specific order… And turns out, I have so much to be thankful for…

  • I am thankful for my family and all my friends on so many different continents: the ones who are always there for me in good times and in bad, the ones who care and reach out, and the ones who know who I truly am and can see through the hard time
  • I am thankful for my wonderful brother who is making me feel loved, cared for, and meaningful
  • I am thankful for my other brother and his significant other who are giving me a relationship and a family model to admire and long for
  • I am thankful for my lovely cozy apartment overlooking the river
  • I am thankful for Skype and Facetime for giving me a chance to connect visually with my friends from America, or Thailand, or even with my family from around the corner… it gave me a chance to meet a newborn, to see a growing belly, to chat while still lying down half sleeping on my couch, and to find out about overseas possibilities
  • I am thankful for my amazing and wonderful nephews, their hugs and their bisous, their laughs and their humor, and their irresistible soft skin
  • I am thankful for all the job opportunities
  • I am thankful for bike rides and walks in beautiful Lyon
  • I am thankful that I get to speak English on a daily basis and that I work surrounded by my wonderful friends
  • I am thankful for all my in-laws, past and present…
  • I am thankful for sidereel :P
  • I am thankful for my bed and for flannel sheets that are so soft and never chilly
  • I am thankful for the parents of past students who are still sending me pictures of their little ones… Over the past month, I have received pictures of my two favorite students… And yes, we teachers do have favorites even though it is more PC to deny it… It is based on cuteness, smartness, and beauty of the heart… parents’ kindness does not hurt either… ;)
  • I am thankful that the family you choose is your family forever
  • I am thankful for Ayguebelle sirop :)
  • I am thankful for my health even if it is a bit shaky these days… Still, nothing a couple of pills or TLC cannot change
  • I am thankful for the colder weather as I can take baths again, snuggle under my favorite blankets, and lit up candles all over
  • I am thankful for my eBook reader
  • I am thankful that I have the freedom to walk around my own home as dressed or undressed as I wish to be
  • I am thankful for Thailand~ for the way it made me feel and the happiness it brought to me; I am thankful for all the experiences I had and all the wonderful people I met
  • I am thankful that my homemade Mango Sticky Rice tasted like the real thing (to me anyway)
  • I am thankful that I have been able to reach out and connect or reconnect with many, with honesty and compassion, without bitterness or agenda, just because I want to make sure they know that I care… Life is too short to keep it bottled up… And I will always do my best to spread my gratitude and admiration and let it be known…
  • I am thankful for spontaneity~ sometimes just doing it can bring so much joy, happiness, and healing
  • I am thankful I am happy
